Former Lioness Jill Scott is challenging supporters to take on the Foundation of Light’s 25 Peaks in 25 Hours challenge.
This is the second time we have held the event and all the youngsters had fun. It’s great to see how the different activities and challenges can bring the books to life and how they are excited to read the book again.
Danielle Lane, Foundation of Light Primary Stars Primary TutorInspired by Michael Rosen’s ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ the schools made their way around the Stadium in search of ‘The Gruffalo’ as well as showing off their moves in a dance session. Local authors Yvonne Carlin-Page and husband Peter took part in a Q&A session with the pupils about writing before challenging the groups to fun tasks and quizzes about the book ‘Lily, Windy and the Witch’. Throughout the day students from the University of Sunderland explored JK Rowling’s world of witchcraft and wizardry with a special Harry Potter workshop. Foundation of Light delivers award-winning sports and education programmes for schools and academies across the North East, bringing subjects to life for pupils helping improve attitudes and skills while also increasing enthusiasm and motivation within the classroom. All our sessions are mapped to the National Curriculum in areas including literacy, numeracy, ICT, science, history, physical education, Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) and more. All in-school delivery is suitable for Ofsted inspections.
