Foundation of Light has a launched a new football project aimed at people over 50 in partnership with Hetton School. Walking Football is designed to help people keep active and healthy and is open to both men and women of all abilities and fitness levels. A non-contact sport, anyone that sprints, runs or jogs whilst the ball is in play will be penalised with a free-kick awarded to the other team. Walking Football also offers social benefits as participants can meet new faces, socialise during the game and make new friends.
We're launching the Walking Football sessions with the aim of getting the community more involved with the activities available at Hetton School. We would love to see pupils' parents, grandparents and other family members come along to the sessions which are ideal for those over 50 who want to improve their physical fitness and health.
Caroline Ames, Sports Development Officer
Sessions run every Friday at Hetton School Astro Pitch 9-10am at £2 per session.
