SCS continues Foundation support

Sunderland-based retailer ScS is continuing its commitment to giving hundreds of young people access to sport by extending its partnership with Foundation of Light.

The sofa and carpet specialist has made donations totalling £40,000 to support the Foundation’s award-winning Tackle It and Making Moves programmes which specialise in delivering disability sports coaching as well as social education sessions, covering topics from racism and bullying to substance abuse.

A presentation took place before kick-off at Sunderland AFC’s game against Burnley, where ScS’s Managing Director, Kevin Royal, handed over a cheque for £10,000 to Foundation of Light’s Head of Commercial Richard Hopper demonstrating the company’s ongoing support.

We are proud to continue our partnership with Foundation of Light through the charity’s Tackle it and Making Moves programmes which have such a positive impact on hundreds of young people across our region.
Foundation of Light are a perfect match for ScS’s core values and culture through their passion and dedication to change lives for the better in our local communities.

Kevin Royal, Managing Director at ScS

To date, almost 1,000 additional youngsters have benefitted from the ScS and Foundation of Light partnership since it began in 2013.

Richard Hopper, added: “ScS have made a huge impact on the lives of young people in the region through their generosity, specifically in the areas of disability sport and social education.

“It is only through the ongoing support of community-minded businesses like ScS that we are able to offer children and young people opportunities to improve their lives.”

Making Moves, the Foundation’s disability coaching team, deliver fun, exciting and challenging sessions for children and adults to get involved in sport.

Making Moves also focuses on promoting awareness among non-disabled youngsters.

Using the power of football to engage pupils moving from primary to secondary school, Tackle It uses coaching and workshops to teach young people about positive choices which will impact on their academic and social lives.
