Former Sunderland AFC defender David Corner joins BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown to share the agony of his 1985 Milk Cup Final mishap as part of Anti-Bullying Week.
The pair have documented Dave’s experience in a brand-new audio book ‘Cornered’ with all proceeds going to the Foundation of Light.
The ex-Black Cat is taking the opportunity to share moment that has haunted him for years, and turn a negative into a positive, to support SAFC’s official charity.
David is remembered by Sunderland fans for all the wrong reasons; an error at Wembley Stadium saw the Lads miss out on the league cup trophy to Norwich City.
He was 18 years-old at the time and has never lived it down, and fans have never let him forget it either.
A few years ago, Jeff Brown, took that moment and wrote the play ‘Cornered’ which enjoyed a sell-out run in theatres around the North East.
Now, to coincide with National Anti-Bullying Week, Jeff and David have released David’s story in a brand-new audiobook, also titled ‘Cornered’.
David talks about that day at Wembley and the impact it had on his life and the years of bullying that would follow.
‘Cornered’ the audiobook is available to download now, with all proceeds going to the Foundation of Light to help them support vulnerable youngsters throughout Sunderland, County Durham and beyond.
