Foundation of Light are proud to be partnering up with the EFL Trust to continue to provide help and support to residents in the city.
The ‘Tackling Loneliness Together’ project is aimed at helping those over 55, who may be feeling vulnerable. Due to the recent lockdown, many people could be feeling lonely and may have even lost people who they were close to. Together we will provide targeted and effective relief through a range of activities with the aim of building relationships and reconnecting them back into the community.
Will we do this by connecting in four different ways:
· Keep in touch – over the telephone, offering friendly support or advice or just having a friendly chat
· Face-to-face – socially distanced conversations in the garden or home
· Activity packs – take part in quizzes, trivia and access to support services
· Online get togethers – daily activities for all to enjoy. We will offer technical support and the use of tablets, to help get online
A recent study from the Office National Statistics (ONS) showed that 5.0% of people in Great Britain (2.6 million adults) reported that they felt lonely “often” or “always”. Of those asked, 30.9% (7.4 million adults) reported their well-being had been affected through their having felt lonely in the past seven days.
If you, a friend, family member or neighbour would like to benefit from this, please complete your details on our online form and someone will be in contact with you soon.
