Shelby’s story

11 September 2017

Foundation of Light’s wide range of sport, education and health programmes can be a catalyst for change as Shelby’s story shows.

Joining our Family Learning Family course which gave her the motivation and realisation that she needed to make changes in her’s and her family’s life. From there she really turned her life around and has shown what can be achieved when you put your mind to it.

I’ve been overweight a lot, very unfit, and was suffering from IBS and anxiety. I did have a lot of health problems. I did a Family Learning course with the Foundation and it helped me decide to lose weight. After the first course I lost five stone.
I’ve been doing a lot of half-marathons and helped my daughter through her first 5k run.

I had very low self-esteem but now I feel confident. It has been a massive change for me. If it wasn’t for Foundation of Light I wouldn’t have had the motivation to lose weight and certainly wouldn’t have achieved what I have.

Shelby Gray, Family Learning Participant
