Updated safety measures
Following the latest update to government guidelines regarding North East restrictions [announced on Tuesday 22nd September], the Foundation of Light has implemented further safety measures to ensure that the Beacon of Light remains a COVID secure facility. Indoor football and futsal, including as part of affiliated clubs, has been suspended until further notice. Outdoor activities are available to book; however, these must only be booked by affiliated clubs. Customers with existing block bookings on specific sessions will be honoured as part of the Foundation’s closed groups, but unfortunately going forward no new bookings will be taken until restrictions are lifted. PROGRAMMES AFFECTED BY NEW GUIDELINES: 
  • Game Play – only one parent/carer per player at matches or training to supervise their child and must follow social distance guidelines including wearing a mask
  • Little Skills – only one parent/carer per player at matches or training to supervise their child and must follow social distance guidelines including wearing a mask
  • Little Dribblers – only one parent/carer per player at matches or training to supervise their child and must follow social distance guidelines including wearing a mask
  • Little Dribblers Playgroup – no sessions available until further notice
  • Pay and Play – no sessions available until further notice
  • Badminton – affiliated clubs only
  • Netball – affiliated clubs only

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 
  • Everyone entering the building must scan the NHS Test and Trace QR code and register with the NHS Covid-19 App
  • Masks must be worn in all public areas of the building
  • Parking is available at the green park at the Stadium of Light. Please don’t park at the back of the Beacon of Light as these are safety vehicle access routes
  • Access to the Beacon of Light pitches must be via the outdoor path to the left of the main ramp. A staff member will meet you here to take you to your pitch
  • Only one parent/carer per player at matches or training to supervise their child and must follow social distance guidelines including wearing a mask
  • No spectators will be permitted
  • There will be no changing or drinking facilities available. Please bring your own refreshments if needed
  • Hand sanitiser is available for everyone and all equipment regularly cleaned before, during and after sessions

Scores of youngsters enjoyed a day at the Beacon of Light with a difference thanks to Stagecoach Group after the UK's largest transport operator gave their backing to the Foundation's half-term holiday courses.
