North East-based beverage company, Avenue and Greene are supporting their local community by choosing Sunderland AFC’s official charity Foundation of Light as their Charity of the Year.
The newly-established business, setup by friends Abu and Kamal, had a dream to make non-alcoholic ginger beer and give back to the local community at the same time, with a percentage of every sale going to the award-winning charity.
Influenced by their Asian heritage, the ginger used in the drink is sourced from India and is reported to have numerous health benefits.
Abu Shama, Co-Founder at Avenue and Greene said: “We both wanted to create something special that linked with our heritage. It has been a long road and it has taken us five years to get where we are now, but we are extremely proud of our product and already is proving to be very popular.”
Kamal Hussain, Co-Founder at Avenue and Greene added “We always wanted to support a cause close to our heart and whilst our ginger beer celebrates our Asian heritage, Foundation of Light supports communities where we live and work.”
Money raised from sales will go towards helping children, teenagers, adults and families through the foundation’s life-changing community programmes.
