Foundation backs Safer Internet Day 2018
Foundation of Light is once again pledging its support to the Safer Internet Day campaign to make the internet a better and safer place. Celebrated globally and coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to talk to family and friends about the safe, responsible and positive use of technology, and to pledge how to create a kinder online community. Across the day, a range of exciting activities are taking place, from youth events and celebrity support, to the #ItStartsWithUs social media campaign, while over 1,000 organisations across the UK are getting involved with schools and youth groups using Education Packs and SID TV films to engage children, young people, parents and carers. How to get involved: In 2017 the Foundation teamed up with the Barclays Digital Eagles to offer informal advice on online safety to the charity's Family Learners and Back on Track participants, helping them to understand digital technology and how it can help make life easier. Sunderland AFC’s official charity has also delivers sessions within secondary schools across the North East to support Esh Group’s award-winning Building My Skills project, educating pupils around social media and its impact on their employment opportunities.Safer Internet Day 2018
