Our free and unique Back in the Game employability programme here at the Foundation of Light is designed to support jobseekers across the North East in finding work by raising skills and confidence while assisting learners throughout the application to work process.
Designed to increase motivation and self-esteem amongst participants, our interactive Back in the Game course consists of a mixture of classroom, practical and physical activities which all enable participants to enhance their employment prospects.
Delivered from the Beacon of Light and the Foundation’s outreach sites across the North East, the programme has helped more than one in three learners find a job during or within six weeks of finishing the course with local businesses.
In 2015, Back in the Game was awarded the National Project of the Year prize as part of Adult Learners Week for its remarkable achievements.

Traineeships
Level 1 Award in Customer Services
Learners will obtain industry recognised qualifications, maths and English and experience of the world of work through placements with partner employers such as the Beacon of Light.
The course offers learners direct access to employement opportunities at the end of the programme or links with education or training providers to further develop their skills.
Level 1 Award in Retail
Learners will obtain industry recognised qualifications, maths and English and experience of the world of work through placements with partner employers such as SAFC.

Having been out of work for 16 years to raise my family, Back in the Game taught me the correct way to compose a CV and cover letter.
