Work alongside experienced Sunderland AFC-approved coaches to gain the qualifications, skills and experience you need to pursue a career in sports coaching.
Based at South Tyneside College and Monkwearmouth Academy, the programme includes two days at college then three days per week alongside coach mentors who will support you to become job ready!
Trainees will study a full-time OCR Level 3 Diploma in Sport Physical Activity Development under the expert guidance of the Foundation’s Education Officers.
Trainees will be guaranteed an interview with Foundation of Light on successful completion of the two-year programme, with other job opportunities and career pathways in sports coaching also available to you. Coaches Academy is also suitable for those wanting to progress into Higher Education.
- At least five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English (Grade 4).
Every applicant will be assessed on an individual basis and decisions will be made to ensure the programme is suitable before any invitations are offered.
- FA Football Coaching Level 1 and Level 2 Awards
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Development, Coaching and Fitness (equivalent to two A Levels)
- Level 2 and Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and Sport
