It’s been an action-packed February half-term with hundreds through the door taking part in sport and cooking activities at the Beacon of Light.
Nearly 900 youngsters took part in activities run and delivered by Sunderland AFC’s official charity, the Foundation of Light and Active Sunderland’s BIG Indoor Sports Festival.
Max, a parent from Sunderland whose child attended a two-day football course and the BIG Indoor Sports Festival said: “I have been to the Beacon of Light three times. My son (Harry) loves sport, any kind of sport in fact. This facility (Beacon of Light) is amazing and gives youngsters the opportunity to try new things, make new friends and more importantly have fun.”
David Dowson, Head of Football in the Community at the Foundation of Light added: “Our holiday courses always prove to be popular and this term we had to add new courses due to many selling out.
“Continuing our theme of pioneering new sessions, we have added more during the Easter holidays, ranging from dodgeball, cooking classes, ever popular ‘fortneet’ and our recent addition, position specific coaching.”
Whilst half-term is over, it’s only a matter of weeks before the Easter holidays. To view the full list of activities and take advantage of 10% discount on any sports courses by booking before 1st March visit our dedicated holiday course page.
