BRIDLE VEHICLE LEASING GIVES GIFT OF FOOTBALL TO LOCAL CHARITIES
Bridle Vehicle Leasing is set to give hundreds of people from community groups across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham the chance to play football for free at the Beacon of Light.
The company, which is owned by Sunderland AFC Chair and Foundation of Light Trustee, Stewart Donald, has sponsored two hours a week on the Beacon of Light’s rooftop 4G pitch to run informal football matches and training sessions for those who would like to play in the award-winning facility but are unable to take part due to their personal circumstances.
Through the Foundation of Light and All for Carers Alliance, the Beacon is working with organisations such as MacMillan Cancer Support, Centrepoint, Washington Mind, Age UK and Veteran’s in Crisis to arrange for those living with cancer, children from disadvantaged backgrounds, armed forces veterans, adults with mental health challenges and carers to take part in the free weekly sessions.
Bridle Vehicle Leasing is delighted to be able to offer members of the local community the opportunity to experience the awe-inspiring facilities at the Beacon of Light. The roof-top pitch is amazing and it will be great to see it being used by individuals and groups who may otherwise not have been able to access the facility.
The Beacon and Foundation of Light help so many members of our community, including some of those most in need and it would be great to see the regional business community giving their support to these two incredible organisations, to help them to continue to make a real difference in the lives of local people.

Beacon of Light General Manager, Phil King said “We are delighted and grateful to Stewart and Bridle Vehicle Leasing for donating pitch time at the Beacon of Light to those who need it.
“The Beacon is used by real cross-section of the community, with something for all generations and walks of life. From football and netball leagues through to family cooking sessions and toddler groups our aim is to engage every part of the community to help them improve their lives. We even have free activities on match days for SAFC fans to enjoy.
“But what makes this building extra special, is that every penny raised is donated to the club’s official charity, the Foundation of Light, to support award-winning sport, health, employability and education programmes. Through support like Stewart’s, together we can make a real difference to local lives across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham.”
The free weekly sessions run on Wednesdays at the Beacon of Light until December. If you are involved in a local community group and would like to book one of the available slots or would like to find out more information, contact Jasmine Davies by email jasmine.davies@foundationoflight.co.uk.
