Date published: 19th May 2017

Sunderland Deaf AFC have completed a memorable treble by winning the English Deaf Football League Challenge Cup.

The Black Cats lifted the trophy following a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Barnet Deaf FC, becoming only the fourth team to win the competition.

The final at Chester FC's Deva Stadium wrapped up a record-breaking year for the team who were crowned champions of the EDF Northern League for the fourth time and won their third EDF League Cup in a row.

I have been absolutely delighted with the teams' performances this season, they are a fantastic group to coach.

We have overcome some excellent sides in all competitions and to win the treble is a fantastic achievement, I am really proud of the lads.
