How will it be funded?
How the Beacon will operate
The Beacon of Light will cost approximately £18million to complete and funding will come from a range of public and private sources.
Foundation was gifted the land for the Beacon from the Homes and Communities Agency and planning permission for the Beacon of Light has been granted with work on the final design now being completed.
So far, the Foundation has raised £15 million towards the campaign.
Approaches are being made to recognised Foundations, Trusts and potential benefactors and there will be a range of commercial and corporate opportunities at the centre as well as a public appeal to raise funds.
The Beacon of Light will be an inspirational landmark building and the first of its kind in the UK.
The Beacon will be a vibrant, stimulating and exciting education and sports facility and will use the power of football to inspire people and change lives. It will help children and young people gain valuable skills and qualifications and work with young people and families to energise communities.
The Beacon offers unique opportunities for corporate partnership, naming rights and sponsorship and in return will provide unrivalled sponsor benefits, including extensive PR, media exposure and inspiring experiences.
We work closely with and engage with thousands of families and tens of thousands of children and young people across the North East every year and enjoy unrivalled access to additional match day promotional tools as well as excellent media links regionally and nationally.
